YIPPEE!!
JUST A REMINDER THAT THE CASS COUNTY FAIR STARTS TUESDAY, AUGUST 6 and RUNS THROUGH SATURDAY, AUGUST 10th.
WOW! THAT'S THIS COMING WEEK!

FYI...CAKE and LIVESTOCK AUCTIONS...
Cass County Fair 4-H Auction Supporters (family, friends, businesses, alumni) are invited to show support for Cass County 4-Hers by attending one of two 4-H auctions held during the Cass County Fair.
The 4-H cake auction starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening August 6, at the open air auditorium on the Cass County fairgrounds. It provides an opportunity to purchase fancy or decorated cakes, pies, and/or specialty breads baked and decorated by 4-H members. The proceeds of this event will be divided between the participating 4-Her and the Cass County 4-H Council. 4-H Council funds raised at this event help sponsor activities for 4-H members throughout the year. Auction supporters are invited to stay for the Fashion Show/Awards program following the auction. A Sneak Peek and Refreshments will be held for everyone at the 4-H Building following this event.
The 4-H Livestock Auction starts at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, August 11, in the livestock barn. Livestock judging awards will be presented to the 4-Hers before the auction at 2:45 p.m. The Cass County 4-H Council clerks this premium sale which is held for market animals only. Each exhibitor is allowed to sell one animal of each species as premium only, meaning dollars per head not cents per pound. Exhibitors retaining ownership will only receive the premium from the sale. Exhibitors of shipped animals will receive the premium from the buyer in addition to the sale proceeds from the buyer of the animal.
It's not often that we have early May-like weather near the end of July, but it happened this past week. Having the a/c turned off and enjoying being outside without overheating has been a treat.
Over the weekend, we had fun fishing at Louisville State Recreation Parks with friends and family. We had a picnic lunch and when the bass, bluegill and catfish started biting, everyone had fun!
Buddies, Luke and Wyatt, (above), wait patiently to hook a couple of big ones...
Lexi and Luke have fun whenever they get together.
One of the many catfish caught over the weekend...(he's the one on the left)!
The ride home on the gravel roads at dusk left a beautiful sunset to highlight our great weekend!
On Monday, the temps never broke 70*, so I thought it was the perfect time to roast a chicken in the oven, along with some garlic mashed potatoes and fresh sweet corn on the side. YUM!
The July 9, 2013 minutes of the Murray Town Board of Trustees' meeting is now posted and you may read them by clicking on the 'Village Office' tab above.

Changing Lands, Changing Hands / How Can We Save Rural America?
By some estimates, more than half of the farmland in the U.S. could change hands during the next generation and thousands of farm families will be forced to decide whether to buy, hold or sell their land. NET News and Harvest Public Media examine changing trends in land ownership and what they mean to farm families and rural communities in two programs airing Friday, Aug. 2, on NET Television and NET Radio.

First at 7 p.m. CT on NET1 and NET-HD, in "Changing Lands, Changing Hands," NET News visits with landowners who are selling and those who are hanging on to their acres.
Following at 7:30 p.m. CT on NET1 and NET-HD, agricultural and economic experts will visit in a 30-minute discussion program, "How Can We Save Rural America?" The program will be simulcast on NET Radio, also at 7:30 p.m. CT. Guests include former Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Maxine Moul, who is now the Nebraska State Director of USDA Rural Development, and Caleb Pollard who is co-founder of Scratchtown Brewing Company in Ord, Neb. Pollard recently served as executive director of the Valley County Economic Development Board.
For more information, visit the Changing Lands website.

Nebraska's Capitol Masterpiece
Nebraska's Capitol Masterpiece It's a building like no other, a capitol of unique design. Nebraska's State Capitol is a singular tower, rising above the plains -- a masterpiece of art and architecture. NET Television's "Nebraska's Capitol Masterpiece," premiering Monday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m. CT on NET1 and NET-HD, explores the enduring nature of this vital and magnificent statehouse -- from its visionary design to its role as symbol of Nebraska's people, places and ideals. The program will repeat Friday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. CT and Sunday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. CT on NET1/HD. For an extended preview of the program, watch this "Nebraska Stories" feature.
Special Online Screenings
NET has two special online screenings this week. These give you the opportunity to watch the program online and chat with the producers of the program.

First is an online screening of "The Quilted Conscience," a story about Sudanese refugees in Grand Island who make a quilt inspired by dreams and memories. Tuesday, July 30, at 7 p.m. CT, you will be able to watch "The Quilted Conscience" online and chat with the creator of the program, John Sorensen. Just click here to join the event. You can register with your Facebook or Twitter account or log in anonymously.
Next, the NET News / Harvest Public Media production of "Changing Lands, Changing Hands" will screen online on Wednesday, July 31, at 8 p.m. CT. You can watch the program and chat with Producer Grant Gerlock and reporters from Harvest Public Media. Just click here to join the event.
Finally, NET Television's August Membership drive starts this weekend. Please use this opportunity to renew your membership or join the NET Family for the first time. Your Membership dollars help purchase all of the programs we air and help fund all the programs we produce. For more information, visit the "Support NET" website.

MEL BROOKS' HIT, 'THE PRODUCERS',
at LOFTE COMMUNITY THEATRE
Mel Brooks' classic tale of Broadway shenanigans, 'The Producers' is playing at the Lofte Community Theatre in Manley.
Main characters Max Biailystock (played by Harold L. Scott of Lincoln) and Leo Bloom (played by Cory Misek also of Lincoln) along with voluptuous Ulla (played by Emma Rasmussen of Omaha) take the audience on a romp of outrageous in-your-face humor. Classic songs include, 'Springtime for Hitler,' 'Keep it Gay,' and 'When you Got it, Flaunt It.' Kevin Colbert of Weeping Water is Artistic Director. Betty Colbert is the Musical Director and Noelle Bohaty is choreographer. We suggest PG-13 for this show.
Production dates are August 1-4. Ticket prices are $18. All shows begin at 7:30pm except for Sunday afternoons which are 2pm matinees. Reservations can be made by calling the Lofte box office at 402-234-2553 or purchased online at www.Lofte.com.
