CELEBRATE AMERICA!!
As you celebrate our country's independence from Great Britain in 1776, please take time to reflect on how this event came to be. Our nation's founding fathers and early militia were heroes in the truest sense of the word. Don't wait for a special holiday to thank our veterans and active duty military personnel. Do it every time you meet one of these modern-day heroes!
ATTENTION!
THE PANCAKE FEED WILL BE THURSDAY, JULY 4, 2013,

FIREWORKS SAFETY TIPS
Fireworks should be used only with extreme caution. Make sure they are legal in your area before buying or using them.
Never allow young children to play with or ignite fireworks.
Avoid buying fireworks that are packaged in brown paper because this
is often a sign that the fireworks were made for professional displays and
that they could pose a danger to consumers.
Always have an adult supervise fireworks activities.
Parents don't realize that young children suffer injuries from sparklers.
Sparklers burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees - hot enough to
melt some metals.
Never place any part of your body directly over a fireworks device when lighting the fuse. Back up to a safe distance immediately after lighting fireworks.
Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully. Keep a safe distance, then douse or spray un-ignited fireworks with water.
Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire or other mishap.
Light fireworks one at a time, then move back quickly.
Never carry fireworks in a pocket or shoot them off in metal or glass containers.
After fireworks complete their burning, douse the spent device with plenty of water from a bucket or hose before discarding it to prevent a trash fire.
Clean up the mess left after shooting off fireworks.
The May and June Murray Village Board meeting minutes are posted and you may read them by clicking on the 'Village Office' tab above.
HELP SPARK the RED CROSS
BLOOD SUPPLY THIS SUMMER!
While Independence Day will surely ignite many fireworks extravaganzas, the American Red Cross is counting on volunteer donors to spark the nation's blood supply. The need for blood is constant, especially around the summer holidays, when eligible donors have even less time in their busy schedules to give.
As part of the Red Cross Summer of Stories campaign to increase donations when they historically drop, all presenting donors between July 1 and 15 could win one of five $3,000 American Express gift cards. Donors are also encouraged to visit redcrossblood.org/summer to share their summer blood donation stories and watch videos of patients whose lives were touched by donors.
To learn more and make an appointment to donate blood, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS.

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age andyounger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

FreecycleMurrayNE(R) hopes to encourage everyone to recycle rather than sending items to landfills.
You might have upgraded your appliances, furniture or just cleaned out your craft supplies. 'Gift' them to someone else instead of throwing them in the trash.
Have you recently completed a building project and and now have leftover lumber, drywall, etc? Hey, someone might need that to repair something.
In searching through your cabinets, have you come across that super, spectacular bagel-maker that you've only used once? Now it's just sitting there taking up valuable space on your shelf. So get rid of it already!
Oh, and what about mint that you planted and it's now outgrowing its' pot? Share it with someone else who also has a green thumb.
REMEMBER...NEVER is money to be involved and it's FREE to sign-up!
Check it out here:

LOFTE COMMUNITY THEATRE AUDITIONS
The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley announces that it will be holding open auditions for
'THE BOYS NEXT DOOR'
at 7pm on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23.
'Boys,' is a very funny yet very touching play that focuses on the lives of four special needs men who live in a communal residence under the watchful eye of their social worker.
Artistic Director Kevin Colbert notes that the script is designed so that 6 of the supporting roles may be played by one actress and one actor. However, if we have enough auditionees, the cast may be doubled. Also the script suggests that the role of Lucian be an African American.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Rehearsals will begin in late July.
Performances will run weekends August 31-September 15.
Those auditioning should bring a list of possible schedule conflicts.
Questions about auditions or the production itself may be directed to Kevin Colbert at 402-234-2553.
