I sit beside the fire and think
Of all that I have seen
Of meadow flowers and butterflies
In summers that have been
Of yellow leaves and gossamer
In autumns that there were
With morning mist and silver sun
And wind upon my hair
I sit beside the fire and think
Of how the world will be
When winter comes without a spring
That I shall ever see
For still there are so many things
That I have never seen
In every wood in every spring
There is a different green
I sit beside the fire and think
Of people long ago
And people that will see a world
That I shall never know
But all the while I sit and think
Of times there were before
I listen for returning feet
And voices at the door

MURRAY CHRISTIAN CHURCH CELEBRATES 125 YEARS!
On Sunday afternoon, October 29, 2017, friends of Murray Christian Church celebrated their 125th anniversary in the little village.
Nehawka resident, Alberta (Redden) Nichols, loaned a bible given to her when she attended Sunday School at the church in 1940 when she and her family lived in Murray.
Minnie Mae (Hoschar) Sayers also loaned a photo of the 1937 congregation. Below is the photo and a partial list of some of the people in the photo. Please share this picture with your family and friends who might be able to help fill in the blanks of those whose names are not listed. You may send the names to Editor@MurrayNebraska.com or call the church, 402-235-2527, and let them know.

Adult Education finds new home at First Presbyterian Church
Plattsmouth’s Adult Education Program, including Adult Education, GED, and English Language classes, have a spacious new home in the First Presbyterian Church CE Building at 701 Chicago Avenue, Plattsmouth. The CE Building is the smaller of the Church’s two buildings.
“We have two large and comfortable rooms for classes this school year. We feel very happy to have room to move around easily and keep learning materials where students can readily use them. We have additional student-use computers as well,” said Program Director Tallie VanWesten. “We are grateful for this excellent new space and the First Presbyterian Church’s welcome.”
Classes are held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon and from 6:30 to 9 p.m. each week. Classes will begin Tuesday, Sept. 5 with orientation sessions. Orientation for the morning class will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until noon. Evening class orientation begins from 6:30 to 9 p.m. This is a good time to complete the required paperwork, set up your computer-study accounts, and share your learning goals. Teachers will be available to answer questions during orientation. New students and returning students should attend orientation. Get your school year off to an excellent start at orientation.
Morning and evening classes started Thursday, Sept. 7 at the same times listed above.
For more information about Adult Education, polishing your math, language, science and social studies skills; GED classes and testing; and English language classes; call Program Director Tallie Van Westen at 402-296-3174 Ext. 2315.
Classes are free. Everyone is welcome. Start your adult education classes in our new location. Now is the time!
