TIME CHANGE - AGAIN?
As editor of your Murray Newsletter, I seldom express my personal opinion here, but the time has come.
The policy-makers seem to have nothing else to do, so they're trying to keep this last stupid move as hush-hush as possible till the very last minute, but I feel that every citizen needs to know as soon as policy is made. Now it's out and it's official. As if 2 time changes per year weren't enough, now we'll have to change our clocks 3 times each year, every 4 months! We just set our clocks ahead an hour a couple of weeks ago for Daylight Saving time and beginning this year on the second Sunday of July, the 12th, at 2 a.m., we'll again move our clocks one hour ahead!
In the middle of summer we'll be 'adding' an additional hour just to cram more activities into our already cramped schedules. How do you 'add' an hour?! Can't we accomplish what needs to be done in our regular 24-hour day? When does a person rest? Save the whales, save the trees, save our fresh water supplies, and so on and so on. I'm all for saving the good things, but how the ---- can you really save time anyway?! What nut job thinks up these kinds of things? If you're one of those who are still trying to catch that hour you lost a couple of weeks ago, prepare yourselves for the next big change in July. It's no wonder people are cranky. I can't imagine what it'll be like.
The only thing good that I can see of this is that on November 1st, when we'll be moving our clocks back, we'll actually be moving them 2 hours to get back the hour of sleep that we lost in March and the other in July. That sounds appealing, doesn't it? Maybe we can save those two hours of sleep for when we really need them, especially with the holidays that will be right around the corner.
I know! Let's just take time away from our policy-makers so they can save it up. Then they'll have all the time they need to think of something good to do!

17th ANNUAL GREAT AMERICAN CLEAN-UP!

Keep Cass County Beautiful, (KCCB), an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, is announcing the launch of the 17th annual Great American Cleanup. Keep America Beautiful's Great American Cleanup is the country's largest community improvement program that kicks off each spring and engages more than 4 million volunteers in more than 20,000 communities nationwide.
The emphasis of the GAC program is from March 1- May 31, but cleanups can occur anytime during the year.
In 2014, KCCB provided supplies for 11 clean-ups in the county. Thanks to the hard work of 170 adult and youth volunteers and 427 hours of labor, 129 large bags of trash were collected in Cass County along with painting projects, weed pulling, tree and flower plantings.
Keep Cass County Beautiful will again provide trash bags and loan banners, safety vests, gloves and some pick-up tools (while supplies last) for clean-up events. KCCB will partner with local school groups, scouts, civic and church organizations to plan volunteer events that include litter clean-ups, special recycling events, planting red flowers for a "Grow Big Red" garden, increased recycling collections, tree plantings, clothing collections, and more.
We appreciate your efforts to lead a Great American Cleanup last year and hope you will consider organizing another GAC this year. Please contact me soon if you would like to reserve a supply of garbage bags, gloves, etc. If you are no longer the contact person for this information, please notify me.
Thank you for all you do to keep Cass County beautiful!
KeepCassCountyBeautiful@yahoo.com
Be sure to visit KCCB during the Murray Garage Sales May 15-16!
We'll have beautiful CASS COUNTY GROWN vegetables, hanging baskets and flowers!
