4-LEAF CLOVER

Freel Family and Weeping Water Whiz Kidz 4-H Scholarships Awarded to 2014 Graduate

David and Jeanette Freel, along with their children, selected 2014 high school graduate and 4-H member, Michaela Horn, as the recipient of the Freel Family Scholarship. The Freel family partnered with the Cass County 4-H Council to establish a scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior this year. This is the second year for this scholarship to be awarded.

Because 4-H in Cass County was an integral part of their lives as parents, members, and leaders, they thought it fitting to recognize a graduating senior with a scholarship to assist in college expenses. Jeanette Freel presented the scholarship award to Michaela Horn at the Weeping Water High School Honors Night on May 5.

Michaela Horn, a 2014 graduate of Weeping Water High School, is a member of the Weeping Water Whiz Kidz 4-H Club; she served on the Cass County 4-H Council and has been active in 4-H activities since childhood. She plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall and major in Mechanized Systems Management. Michaela is the daughter of Alan and Denise Horn of Weeping Water.

Michaela also received the Weeping Water Whiz Kidz 4-H Club's annual scholarship which has been awarded to a graduating senior since 2000. Club members make a quilt or have a quilt made and sell raffle tickets at the county fair. Proceeds from the raffle are used for this college scholarship.

Anyone, whether former 4-H'er, leader, parent, grandparent, or club who may be interested in establishing a similar scholarship for 4-Hers, should contact the Cass County Extension Office: cass-county.unl.edu or 402-267-2205.

A lug is a measurement to measure produce.  A lug of peaches would be around 25 pounds,  less than a bushel.  That would make a lot of peach pies or jam!

Cass Classifieds Everywhere

All of the Cass County and surrounding communities will be able to post FREE any buy or sell ads for general merchandise such as mowers, baby cribs, cars, computers and real estate right here.   See the 'CLASSIFIED ADS' tab above.

We especially hope that the Classified Ads will be used to post jobs, look for positions, and post special events, birthdays, church events and garage sales.  Certainly there are lots of places on the Internet to post ads, but some folks are uncomfortable with using EBay or Craigslist.

Step 1:  You do need to have an account, and an email address to manage your ads. You will be notified to renew your ad, you can change info, pricing, and pics as long as you have this account.

Step 2:   Create an ad, indicate where it is, i.e.  Murray, Eagle, Louisville, etc.  and post it.

Step 3:   Wait for approval. We will approve ads ASAP.  We need to make sure that it is a real ad, and if anything needs editing, we will do so.

Step 4:  Post it to Facebook if you like!

Ads will now show everywhere, regardless if it was posted in Elmwood, Alvo or on any other of our community websites.   Ads will also be Goggle/Twitter searchable as well as location, travel directions searchable.
So, get cracking!  Create that account, and post everything in your garage and basement!

If you need some assistance TEXT us at 4029680821.
