The March wind roars
Like a lion in the sky,
And makes us shiver
As he passes by.

Then winds go soft,
And the days warm and clear,
Then like a small, gentle lamb,
Our spring is here!

 burning logs in Animated fireplace

PLEASE! NO BURNING!

Many grass fires along with the high winds lately have been keeping Murray and surrounding fire departments very busy.  It's much too dry to be starting any fires, even those in burn barrels.  Also, PLEASE - DO NOT throw cigarettes out of your car!

THANK YOU!

 2014-03-19 CONSTRUCTION

Starting next week, (March 31), if you plan to drive on Highway 75 between Union and Nebraska City, you will probably need to add at least a half hour to your trip.

A six-mile stretch of highway south of the Union corner will be shut down until September while crews rebuild the road.

Either plan to detour west on Hwy 34 to Hwy 50, then south to Hwy 2, or go across the Plattsmouth toll bridge to I-29 and down the interstate.

Plan accordingly, so you don't have to hurry!

BE SAFE AND THAT KEEPS OTHERS SAFE, TOO!

2014 MURRAY_GARAGE_SALES

The phone calls have already started about the Murray Garage Sales.
The Murray sales will be EVERY YEAR the weekend BETWEEN Mother's Day and Memorial Day.  This year it's on Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17
The cost will again be $12 to have your sale put on the map, newspaper advertising, paper and ink for posted fliers. Please have your money turned in to me by Saturday, May 3rd.  This deadline helps me determine how many ads AND how many words I can use for those newspaper ads.  (The sooner the money is turned in, the more advertising I can do.)

If a youth, church or other NON-PROFIT group wishes to participate with a sale or concession stand, remember there's NO CHARGE to them, but a representative needs to let me know and I'll be glad to put it on the map.

The week of May 18, immediately after our sales,  volunteers from Hosanna Lutheran will pick up your leftover sale items.  You might want to start saving some good sturdy boxes for those items, , because they do stack better than bags and it will help to make the volunteers' job much easier.  Please call 402-235-2999 to schedule your pick-up time.

Please feel free to forward this note to your other Murray friends and neighbors and maybe even print the form below and put it on your fridge or bulletin board as a reminder.  I'll also be leaving some forms in the post office and at Town Hall, too.

Thanks!
Pat

CASS COUNTY CASA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We are currently recruiting CASA Volunteers for the upcoming training session scheduled in April 2014. We only train two classes a year, call and reserve your spot today.

What does a Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteer do? Each CASA volunteer is screened, trained and completes 30 hours of pre-service training. Once trained, CASA volunteers are assigned under the Juvenile Court jurisdiction to speak on behalf of a child to ensure the needs and interests of abused and neglected children are being met.

Who are CASA volunteers? Our active volunteers are individuals from our community who work part-time, full-time or are retired. Volunteers commit to one year with a child, but seldom leave a case until it has been terminated.

If I can't be a CASA volunteer, how can I help? In addition to training new CASA volunteers, we are also in need of administrative services support such as filing, data entry and making copies.

Your help directly benefits the Cass County CASA Program. A donor-supported volunteer organization whose mission is to offer court-appointed volunteer advocacy to children that are abused, neglected and often find themselves lost in the court system. Through Cass County CASA, these children are placed with advocates that speak on their behalf and know them well enough to make informed recommendations to the judge.

Please call Angie Neumiller, Executive Director at 402-296-9620 or email  director@casscasa.org">director@casscasa.org and become a CASA volunteer today.
