FBLA FOOD DRIVE

Last week the Conestoga Future Business Leaders of America, (FBLA), placed
bright yellow grocery bags at the front doors of Murray residents. With your help, the
FBLA can help to ease the need for food that some people are facing right now, right
here in the Conestoga community.

Please fill the bags with NON-perishable food items and place on your front
doorstep on the evening of Wednesday, October 23, by 6:15 p.m. and an FBLA
member will come by and pick it up. Even if you didn't receive a bag, please fill a
different one and place it on your front porch. Keep in mind that even the smallest
of donations - a can of soup, vegetables or fruit,  will be greatly appreciated.

Without even knowing it, you might be helping out a good friend or neighbor
who doesn't want you to know they're in need.

Thank you for your contribution!

HOSPICE WORKSHOP IN HONOR OF

NATIONAL HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE MONTH

The Sarpy/Cass Department of Health & Wellness, in partnership with Hillcrest Health Services and Partnerships in Aging, will sponsor a FREE hospice workshop on Monday, November 4 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Health Services, 1902 Harlan Drive in Bellevue. This workshop is provided as part of National Hospice and Palliative Care month. Individuals wanting to learn more about end of life care options and the hospice experience are welcome to attend.

During this workshop, participants will explore the hospice experience from the perspective of the caregiver and family, while discussing the fear of death that is prevalent in American culture. Experts in end of life care from Hillcrest Health Services will also discuss the hospice philosophy, levels of care and insurance coverage options for hospice services.

"Educating our community about end of life care options can help reduce the fears associated with these difficult healthcare decisions," commented Nicole Evans, Sarpy/Cass Department of Health & Wellness Community Health Educator. "Our goal is to empower individuals facing life?limiting illness to make informed healthcare decisions reflective of their values, beliefs and preferences for care at the end of life."

According to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, "Every year more than 1.65 million people living with a life-limiting illness receive care from hospice palliative care providers in the US," (NHPCO, 2013). "Hospice and palliative care provides expert pain management, symptom control, emotional support and spiritual care to patients and family caregivers when a cure is not possible."

There is no fee to attend this program and preregistration is required. Call 402.339.4334 ext. 209 or email nevans@sarpy.com by October 30, 2013 to register. For more information on the Senior CARE Program or upcoming events, please visit www.sarpycasshealthdepartment.org/Seniors.html. The

Sarpy/Cass Department of Health & Wellness strives to improve the lives of citizens living in Sarpy and Cass counties by promoting the health of our community through disease prevention, partnerships, policy development and health education.

LAST WEEKEND

to see

'NUNSET BOULEVARD'

  at Lofte Community Theatre

The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley presents the wacky musical-comedy 'Nunset Boulevard'.  'Nunset' is the sixth installment of the popular series chronicling the antics of the  little sisters of Hoboken.  This time they have been invited to perform at the Hollywood Bowl.  However, upon their arrival, they discover that it's actually the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama and Cabaret Lounge.  When they find there is a screen test going on across the street, they think stardom is just a few steps away!  This is a fun family-friendly evening filled with lighthearted comedy and fantastic vocals.

Directed by Kevin Colbert, the play stars the operatically trained Janet Sorensen of Elmwood as Reverend Mother.  Her second in command, Sister Mary Hubert is played by Betty Colbert.  Anna Stroebel of Papillion, Charity Baker of Elmwood and Samantha colbert and Alyssa DiPaolo both of Lincoln fill out the ranks.

The production runs October 24-27.  Tickets are $17.  Reservations can be made by calling the Lofte box office at 402.234.2553 or visiting the Lofte website at Lofte.com.
Pictured in front:  Janet Sorensen stars as the indomitable Reverend Mother.  Second row:  Betty Colbert as Sister Hubert and Anna Stroebel as Sister Robert Anne.  Back:  Charity Baker as Amnesia and Samantha Colbert as Sister Mary Leo.
