HOSPICE WORKSHOP IN HONOR OF
NATIONAL HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE MONTH
The Sarpy/Cass Department of Health & Wellness, in partnership with Hillcrest Health Services and Partnerships in Aging, will sponsor a FREE hospice workshop on Monday, November 4 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Health Services, 1902 Harlan Drive in Bellevue. This workshop is provided as part of National Hospice and Palliative Care month. Individuals wanting to learn more about end of life care options and the hospice experience are welcome to attend.
During this workshop, participants will explore the hospice experience from the perspective of the caregiver and family, while discussing the fear of death that is prevalent in American culture. Experts in end of life care from Hillcrest Health Services will also discuss the hospice philosophy, levels of care and insurance coverage options for hospice services.
"Educating our community about end of life care options can help reduce the fears associated with these difficult healthcare decisions," commented Nicole Evans, Sarpy/Cass Department of Health & Wellness Community Health Educator. "Our goal is to empower individuals facing life?limiting illness to make informed healthcare decisions reflective of their values, beliefs and preferences for care at the end of life."
According to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, "Every year more than 1.65 million people living with a life-limiting illness receive care from hospice palliative care providers in the US," (NHPCO, 2013). "Hospice and palliative care provides expert pain management, symptom control, emotional support and spiritual care to patients and family caregivers when a cure is not possible."
There is no fee to attend this program and preregistration is required. Call 402.339.4334 ext. 209 or email nevans@sarpy.com by October 30, 2013 to register. For more information on the Senior CARE Program or upcoming events, please visit www.sarpycasshealthdepartment.org/Seniors.html. The Sarpy/Cass Department of Health & Wellness strives to improve the lives of citizens living in Sarpy and Cass counties by promoting the health of our community through disease prevention, partnerships, policy development and health education.

Black Hills Energy Nebraska Annual Price Option
No one can say for sure what the future price of natural gas will be since it is a commodity and its price can change due to supply, demand and other market conditions. Nebraska customers of Black Hills Energy who like the Annual Price Option natural gas price can lock it in for one year by signing up for Annual Price Option on or before Oct. 10, 2013, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Black Hills Energy purchases a special supply of natural gas for the Annual Price Option program so customers who choose the Annual Price Option billing option will pay that price for natural gas for one year. That's compared to the company's traditional billing rate where the natural gas price fluctuates monthly to reflect market changes in the price of natural gas.
Sign-up by calling 1-800-753-7509 or online at www.annualpriceoption.com.
