Murray Fire & Rescue would like to thank all who attended our annual pancake feed fundraiser on the 4th of July. With over 800 hungry appetites served, it was a huge success! We appreciate the terrific support that was shown by our community.

This year’s proceeds will be used to purchase an additional AED / Defibrillator for our Rescue Squad.

Condolences to the family of Nathan Alan Houfek

Nathan was born November 9, 1999 and passed at 12 years old, on July 19, 2013. He is survived by his parents, Jason and Kelley, Beaver Lake, NE; sisters, Caitlin, Lauren and Georgeann; grandparents, June Houfek, Bellevue; Jan and Jerry Kinnersley, Omaha; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Nathan was a student at Conestoga school, Murray, NE and member of Boy Scouts of America Troop #471, Murray-Beaver Lake. He will be dearly missed by classmates, staff and many friends.

The Houfek family will receive friends Tuesday, July 23, 6-8 pm at Bellevue Memorial Chapel, Bellevue, NE, with the funeral service conducted on Wednesday, July 24, 2pm at Bellevue Memorial Chapel, 2202 Hancock St., Bellevue, NE. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery, Bellevue. Please make memorials to the family.

HOT WEATHER HEALTH TIPS

Extreme heat can be very dangerous, leading to heat stroke and death. Heat stroke occurs when your temperature rises quickly and your body cannot cool down. This condition is life-threatening, but it is preventable.

Tips for Preventing Heat-Related Illness:
...Stay in air-conditioned space if possible. If your home is not air-conditioned, go to a public library, heat-relief shelter, or other cool location.

...Drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids (check with your doctor if you are usually suppose to limit your fluids).

...Wear loose-fitting, lightweight clothing.

...Cut back on exercise.

...Closely watch those who are at high risk of heat-related illness, including older adults,

young children, and individuals with physical and/or mental illnesses.

...NEVER leave anyone in an enclosed, parked vehicle.

If you believe that you or someone else may be suffering from heat stroke or another heat-related illness, get help right away. It could be a life or death emergency.

MEL BROOKS' HIT, 'THE PRODUCERS',

OPENS at LOFTE COMMUNITY THEATRE

Mel Brooks' classic tale of Broadway shenanigans, 'The Producers' is playing at the Lofte Community Theatre in Manley. 'The Producers,' opened on Friday, July 19.

Main characters Max Biailystock (played by Harold L. Scott of Lincoln) and Leo Bloom (played by Cory Misek also of Lincoln) along with voluptuous Ulla (played by Emma Rasmussen of Omaha) take the audience on a romp of outrageous in-your-face humor. Classic songs include, 'Springtime for Hitler,' 'Keep it Gay,' and 'When you Got it, Flaunt It.' Kevin Colbert of Weeping Water is Artistic Director. Betty Colbert is the Musical Director and Noelle Bohaty is choreographer. We suggest PG-13 for this show.

Production dates are July 19-21, 25-28 and August 1-4. Ticket prices are $18. All shows begin at 7:30pm except for Sunday afternoons which are 2pm matinees. Reservations can be made by calling the Lofte box office at 402-234-2553 or purchased online at www.Lofte.com.

Cass County Fair 2013 - Amateur Video Contest

2013 CASS COUNTY FAIR VIDEO CONTEST PRIZES:

The Cass County Fair is again sponsoring a video contest!

An advance pre-registration form must be submitted prior to making and submitting your video. The form can be filled out and submitted online.

The deadline for submission of your video will be Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 5:00pm. Winners will be announced and the videos published on the Fair Website www.CassFair.com on August 18, 2013. This will give time for both creative editing and careful judging.

Advance Project Registration (APR)

Just as we did last year we require an advance registration form (this form) to be submitted by Tuesday August 6th, 2013 at midnight CDT for each project to be later be considered by the judges on the submission deadline August 13, 2013 at 5PM CDT. When we receive this form you will receive an APR (Advance Project Registration) Number (via the email address you provide) within 24 hours and that will be your assurance that you are in the cue. This will also verify the email you provided as working and will also identify this project for the purpose of questions, and notifications. Finally this email will confirm your submission when it is received on or before August 13th, 2013 at 5PM CDT. This email will be used to notify you of the Judges decisions and the awards on August 18, 2013 at 5PM CDT. There is no obligation for you to complete your video, or to submit a video - you can change your mind at any point howeverpre-registration IS required for any submission to be considered by the Judges. NO exceptions.

You need to create and edit your video, upload to your www.YouTube.com acct and submit it to us at Webmaster@WireBuilt.com email address on or before August 13th, 2013 at 5PM CDT with a www.YouTube.com link to your project. You agree to maintain the video publicly for the benefit of the Cass County Fair Board for a minimum of 1 year.
