It is unsafe to reuse medications.
Unused medications are often ineffective because they have been kept past their expiration date or improperly stored.
Unused medications can make your home a target of theft by drug abusers.
What is the best way to dispose of medications? Flushing is a problem as the drugs contaminate our water. In a 2002 study, low concentrations of medications were found in Nebraska streams and groundwater.
Hy-Vee stores in the Omaha- area are now accepting non-controlled medication in their pharmacies. They are providing a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of medications and providing education to the general public about the potential for abuse.

On Sunday, April 14, at 2:30 PM, Greenblatt & Seay presents their original mini-musical,
"Noah's Ark"
"Noah's Ark" is a lively adaptation of the story of Noah and the great flood. This unique Greenblatt & Seay production explores the fate of the humans and other animals on the ark, from the day they boarded, to the day they disembarked. The words, by David Seay, examine the relationships between the inhabitants of the ark, and how they managed to survive from one unpredictable day to the next. The music, by Deborah Greenblatt, suggests many of the globes great musical traditions, such as blues, Cajun, calypso, Klezmer, a "Gilbert & Sullivan"-style jig, a tango, and even a round. Greenblatt & Seay & Friends will be singing and playing a variety of instruments during the performance, including a 5-string fiddle, harmonica, guitar, tiple, bouzouki.
The concert will be downstairs in the Old Avoca Schoolhouse, and followed by light refreshments, and a chance to chat and even jam with the performers. Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur, one mile south of Highway 34. Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and senior citizens, and $1.00 for children. Seating is limited. For more information, write to Greenblatt & Seay, The Old Schoolhouse, P.O. Box 671, Avoca, Nebraska, 68307, call 402-275-3221 or e-mail debby@greenblattandseay.com.
The historic Old Avoca Schoolhouse was built in 1925, and has been the home of the Schoolhouse Performance Series since 1990. Music lessons, workshops, fiddle camps, and field trips are offered by Schoolhouse residents, Greenblatt & Seay, and are available by appointment.
