Lofte Theatre

 ALMOST, MAINE

The Lofte Community Theatre announces its opening of "Almost, Maine" on Saturday,  September 1.  This show originally  opened off-Broadway in the winter of 2005.  The play was, and continues to be, wildly praised for its smart, funny take on life and love in a small mythical town in far northern Maine.  On a cold, clear moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the sky above the town's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and sometimes hilarious ways.  Almost everything is mended in this delightful midwinter night's dream.

Directed by Kevin Colbert, the large cast includes Mark Raffety, Benjiman Pettiford, and Kaitlin Scates of Omaha; Marikita Saure, Cory Misek, Shelia Hansen-Snell, Brenna Thompson, Samantha Colbert and Mat Pegler of Lincoln; Jennifer Harvey, Mark Santee and Melinda Mead of Plattsmouth; Megan Homan of Springfield; Danielle Black of Papillion and Josh Smith of  Bellevue.

Performance dates are September 1, 2, 7-9 and 13-16.

Curtain times are 7:30pm on all days except Sundays which are 2pm matinees.

Tickets are $17 and all seats are reserved.

The Lofte Community Theatre is located just east of the intersection of highways 1 and 50 near the town of Manley.  Please visit their website, www.Lofte.com, or call their box office staff at  (402)234-2553 to inquire about ticket availability.

LOFTE AUDITIONS

The Lofte Theatre in Manley is holding open auditions on Monday, September 10 and Tuesday,  September 11 at 7pm for their fall farce, "Whose Wives Are They Anyway?"

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.  No preparation is necessary.  Those with all levels of acting experience are welcome to attend.

Roles are available for four men and four women ages 20-65.

Rehearsals will start at the end of September.

Performance dates are Oct 20, 21, 26-28 and Nov 1-4.

The plot of the script revolves around two company executives who have planned a weekend of  golf before their new C.E.O. arrives.  While their wives are off on a shopping spree, the new boss arrives who insists upon meeting them.  The men find substitute wives, but as in any classic farce, nothing ever goes as planned and mistaken identities abound.

Those with questions about the audition process or the production itself may contact Lofte Artistic Director, Kevin Colbert at 402.234.2553.
