HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA,
LAND of the FREE, HOME of the BRAVE!

AMERICA'S NATIONAL ANTHEM,
"THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER"
Written during the War of 1812 by
Francis Scott Key
~ 1779 - 1843 ~
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say, does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

State Senator Paul Lambert Announces
Nebraska Department of Roads Information Session
LINCOLN – District 2 State Senator Paul Lambert will host an information session about state roads projects in eastern Nebraska from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. on Friday, July 20 at the Plattsmouth Senior Center, 308 South 18th Street in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Nebraska Department of Roads Construction Engineer Marv Lech and Project Engineer Rick Fisher will provide information and answer questions about the Department's current and future projects.
"Constituent requests for more information about road construction prompted me to organize this session with the Nebraska Department of Roads," said Senator Lambert. "I appreciate the Department's willingness to share its knowledge and expertise with us. The July 20 session will be a great opportunity to get up-to-date information about the projects we can see now and those we can expect in the future."
" I look forward to joining District 2 citizens for this event at the Plattsmouth Senior Center on Friday, July 20," said Senator Lambert.
Visual Faith Ministry is planning to host VBS in Nehawka and a mission trip (both in July). The
ministry also supports families with babies in the NICU, (Newborn Intensive Care Unit).
Our ministry's current fundraiser is a celebration of Jake's, (our son), journey in the NICU.
He spent 114 days in the hospital after his birth prior to his coming home to be with us.
Your $100 sponsorship would be for one of the 114 days Jake was in the NICU. For each day
sponsored, you will receive a letter detailing Jake's progress on that particular day and a ticket for
a 1:114 chance for the $200 cash prize as an appreciation for supporting our ministry.
All donations are tax-deductible. You will also receive a receipt for tax preparation purposes at the
end of the year detailing all of your 2012 donations made to Visual Faith Ministry
.
Visual Faith Ministry would genuinely appreciate your contribution to this cause. We want and need
to reach out to help as many people as possible. Please share this information with your friends,
too, who would possibly be interested in supporting our efforts.
Thank you so much for your support of our ministry!

Help Spark the American Red Cross
Blood Supply this Summer
While the Independence Day holiday will surely ignite many spectacular fireworks extravaganzas, the American Red Cross is counting on donors to spark the nation’s blood supply. The Red Cross reminds eligible donors that the need for blood is constant, especially during holiday timeframes – like Independence Day – when eligible donors have even less time in their busy schedules to give.
While all blood types are needed during the summer months, O negative, B negative and A negative blood types are currently in high demand because they potentially can be transfused to patients with Rh positive or Rh negative blood types. Type O negative, the universal blood type, can potentially be transfused to patients with any blood type.
The American Red Cross encourages all eligible donors to donate blood regularly this summer to ensure an adequate blood supply for patients in need.
The American Red Cross’ Live Life. Give Life. summer-long campaign is helping to raise awareness aboutthe constant need for blood and encourage regular donations. Presenting donors between May 21 and September 5, 2012 will be entered automatically into the Live Life. Give Life. promotion for a chance to win prize packages from GiftCertificates.com. And, from June 29 to July 8, presenting donors will be entered to win additional prize certificates to thank them for giving blood around the Independence Day holiday. Visit redcrossblood.org/GiveWin to learn more.
INDEPENDENCE DAY PROMOTION
As a special 'thank you' around the Independence Day holiday, presenting donors between June 29 and July 8, 2012, can register to win a prize certificate redeemable at GiftCertificates.com. Visit redcrossblood.org/GiveWin for details.
How to Donate Blood
Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
About the American Red Cross
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies more than 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. For more information, please visitredcross.org or join our blog at blog.redcross.org.
