NE Diplomats Host 44th Passport Weekend
SEPTEMBER 9, 2011 (LINCOLN, NEB.)—The Nebraska Diplomats Passport Weekend got underway Friday,
September 9 at The Cornhusker, a Marriott Hotel in Lincoln with 430 eager attendees.
Master of Ceremonies Terry McMullen, Managing Director of Target Logistics Services in the Greater Omaha area and 2011 Diplomat President, moderated the 2011 CEO Roundtable on reasons for choosing Nebraska in which to do business. Panelists included Hobson Powell, Director of Search Creative Development for Yahoo! in Omaha, Chris Roth, President of Reinke Irrigation in Deshler, Jack Schreiner, President of Bruckman Rubber Co., in Hastings, and Hardy Shao, President of Worldlawn Power Equipment Inc., in Beatrice.
The Diplomats hosted representatives from Argentina, the German State of Bavaria, Canada, Chile, China,
Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Spain, United Arab Emirates, the U.S., and Vietnam.
Governor Dave Heineman presented the following Diplomats’ awards during the annual Friday evening banquet:

*Community of the Year Award went to Plattsmouth, Nebraska

Oxbow Animal Health, a growing manufacturer and global distributor of premium nutritional
foods and supplements for small animals, is seeking a part-time Animal Caretaker to assist
in the care of a small group of small herbivores.
Reports to: Director of Technical Services
Requirements:
· Experience and knowledge with handling small animals
· Ability to work with hay-based products
· Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
· Must be 16 years of age or older.
Skills & Abilities:
· Compassion: enjoy working with animals and ensuring their well being.
· Work ethic: ability to work unsupervised in an efficient and effective manner.
· High standards: expects high quality from self and in the level of care provided to animals.
· Good communicator: able to clearly communicate information relating to animals’ health
and outcomes of projects associated with the animals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Care and husbandry of small herbivore animals (rabbits and guinea pigs) including cleaning, feeding, exercising and general care.
· Monitoring of animal behavior and general health.
· Recording and reporting of animal behavior and information in relation to studies and feeding trials.
· Other duties from time to time as assigned by Supervisor.
Time Commitment (8-12 hours per week total):
· Weekdays (3 days per week)
· 1-1.5 hours per day (4-6 hours per week)
· Weekends
· 4-6 total hours over the weekend. During certain times this could include both weekend days or at times all duties could be completed in one day.

FIFTEENTH ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE
Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the FIFTEENTH ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE. This
historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 9, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca,
Nebraska Schoolhouse.
In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other
divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a
Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than
a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest, (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers
an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest. The prizes for the winners in the Open Division are $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, and $25 for 3rd place. Prizes will also be
awarded for 1st place in the other contests.
Registration for contestants starts at 1:30 PM the day of the FIDDLING BEE.
Admission is $10.00 for adult, $5.00 for students, and $1.00 for children. Fiddlers and their back-ups are
admitted for free.
