AUDITIONS SCHEDULED at the LOFTE THEATRE
The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley will be holding auditions on Monday, September 5
and Tuesday, September 6 at 7pm for its production of, "Don't Dress For Dinner." The script
calls for 3 men and 3 women between the ages of 25-55. Auditions will consist of cold readings
from the script.
Written by Robin Hawdon, the story revolves around a man planning a weekend with his mistress
at a remote farmhouse. Best friend, Robert is to provide a foolproof alibi, but when the wife arrives
unexpectedly and the caterer is mistaken for the mistress, hilarity ensues. Director Kevin Colbert
notes that this script should be rated PG-13. Performance dates run October 15-30.

Oxbow Animal Health, a growing manufacturer and global distributor of premium nutritional foods and supplements for small animals, is seeking a part-time Animal Caretaker to assist in the care of a small group of small herbivores.
Reports to: Director of Technical Service
Requirements:
· Experience and knowledge with handling small animals
· Ability to work with hay-based products
· Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
· Must be 16 years of age or older.
Skills & Abilities:
· Compassion: enjoy working with animals and ensuring their well being.
· Work ethic: ability to work unsupervised in an efficient and effective manner.
· High standards: expects high quality from self and in the level of care provided to animals.
· Good communicator: able to clearly communicate information relating animals’ health and outcomes of projects associated with the animals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Care and husbandry of small herbivore animals (rabbits and guinea pigs) including cleaning, feeding, exercising and general care.
· Monitoring of animal behavior and general health.
· Recording and reporting of animal behavior and information in relation to studies and feeding trials.
· Other duties from time to time as assigned by Supervisor.
Time Commitment (8-12 hours per week total):
· Weekdays (3 days per week)
· 1-1.5 hours per day (4-6 hours per week)
· Weekends
· 4-6 total hours over the weekend. During certain times this could include both weekend days or at times all duties could be completed in one day.

Help the American Red Cross Prepare for Emergencies by Donating Blood
September is National Preparedness Month, and this year the American Red Cross
encourages all Americans to prepare for emergencies and asks all eligible individuals
to donate blood.
National Preparedness Month is designed to encourage Americans to take simple steps
to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and communities. It’s the mission
of the Red Cross to help the public prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. One
way you can support this mission is to become a regular blood donor.
“It’s important to have a stable blood supply at all times to help ensure we are prepared to
meet the needs of patients in every emergency,” said Tricia Quinn, CEO of Red Cross Midwest
Blood Services Region. “It can take up to three days for donated blood to be tested and pro-
cessed, and made available for patients. It’s the blood on the shelf when a disaster or emergency
strikes that can save the day.”
All blood types are needed, especially O negative, B negative, and A negative. Type O negative,
the universal blood type, can potentially be transfused to patients with any blood type.
The stability of our nation’s blood supply is in the hands of healthy, volunteer blood donors who
give generously for others in need. Schedule an appointment to donate today to help the Red
Cross prepare for the needs of patients across the country.

pounds and are generally in good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and
other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

The Old Avoca (Nebraska) Schoolhouse will be hosting a
Twin Fiddling Workshop
on Saturday, September 10, from 1 PM - 3 PM, for fiddlers

with their fellow-fiddlers (or violinists or violists). Fiddlers (or
violinists or violists) of any age and experience level are
encouraged to enroll.
Championship fiddler and fiddle book author, Deborah Greenblatt
will share some tunes, hints about arranging for two fiddles, playing
back-up, etc. The Workshop takes place in the historic Old Avoca
Schoolhouse, in Avoca, Nebraska. Pre-registration is required and
enrollment is limited.

FIFTEENTH ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE
Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the FIFTEENTH ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE. This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 9, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse.
In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest, (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest. The prizes for the winners in the Open Division are $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, and $25 for 3rd place. Prizes will also be awarded for 1st place in the other contests.
Registration for contestants starts at 1:30 PM the day of the FIDDLING BEE.
Admission is $10.00 for adult, $5.00 for students, and $1.00 for children. Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free.
