DON'T FORGET TO BUY POPCORN TO SUPPORT OUR
LOCAL BOY SCOUTS!
Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from local Pack/Troop 471will be
selling popcorn through Thursday, October 29.
Popcorn may be paid for at ordering time or upon
delivery which begins November 21.
There is a variety of flavors available in microwaveable pouches, pre-popped in tins or just original popping corn. New this year... Chocolatey Triple Delight, a chocolate-covered popcorn with butter toffee glaze and yogurt drizzle!
Trail mix is available, too!
If you're looking for a way to help our local scouts - consider it as Christmas gifts. You can donate a gift of popcorn to military troops serving our country, too. Just choose the level of gift you'd like to send and it will be shipped on your behalf!
Seventy-percent of sales goes to our local scouting programs. Money earned helps to pay for achievement awards throughout the year, such as patches, pins and certificates for boys. The funds raised also helps with summer camp costs and outdoor adventures such as the scouts recent canoe excursion down the Platte River. On average, it costs $135 per boy, per year, to participate in scouting. We have extremely active scouts in our community. They volunteer many hours at the school carnival, helping with the annual Easter Egg Hunt, cleaning up trash along Highway 1 near the high school and numerous Eagle Scout projects, (four this past year!).
In order to support the scouts in the Conestoga School District community, PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR LOCAL PACK/TROOP NUMBER is #471. You'll see these numbers on their uniforms.

HALLOWEEN DESTINATION - NEBRASKA!

Closer to home, twists and turns could lead straight to lots of fun!

Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo......Halloween is just around the corner, and southeast Nebraska is overflowing with a harvest of holiday-oriented, family-friendly events and attractions. Check out Bloom Where You're Planted Farm and Pumpkin Patch in Avoca, Spooktacular at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo, Boo at the Zoo in Lincoln, Vala's Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival near Gretna and Haunted Hollow Hayrack Rides at Indian Cave State Park.

RECIPE

When I hosted 'Bunco' night last year, I wanted a bit of a different snack to serve.   I leafed through several recipes I'd seen, picked over what I thought would be good together and came up with this dip. It's a good way to get pumpkin into your kids and a sweet taste for an autumn get-together.   I hope you enjoy it!   Pat

PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE DIP

15 oz. canned or fresh pumpkin puree (NOT pie filling)
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 (4-serving size) instant cheesecake pudding mix, unprepared
1 1/2 - 2 cups powdered sugar (Depending on the moistness of the pumpkin and      your desired consistency. Start with with the smaller amount and before adding the   Cool Whip, you can add more powdered sugar, if you want it a little sweeter and thicker.
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/2 - 1 tsp. fresh, finely-grated orange peel
1/2 - 1 tsp. fresh, grated nutmeg
1/2 - 1 tsp. cinnamon
8 oz. Cool Whip


In medium bowl, mix together on low speed the pumpkin, cream cheese, dry pudding mix, powdered sugar, pumpkin pie spice and orange peel.

Sprinkle in remaining spices, starting with smallest amounts first, then increasing amount according to your personal taste.

FOLD in Cool Whip; chill several hours or overnight.

Serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers or gingersnaps.
