Condolences to the Family and Friends of
PAM (WOMAK) FITCH
who passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at her home in Nebraska City with her family surrounding her.
Pam worked in admin at Conestoga High School several years ago. She'll be fondly remembered for her warm personality and friendly smile.
Arrangements for services and Pam's complete obituary are being made with Marshal Funeral Home in Nebraska City.

Briese Reminds ENABLE Users to Act by Year’s End
Today Treasurer Tom Briese reminds Nebraskans to contribute to Enable Savings Plans before December 31 to take advantage of end-of-year tax deductible contributions to the savings program.
Nebraska’s Enable Savings Plan was specifically designed to encourage persons with a disability to save for future qualified disability expenses. The Enable Savings Plan assists individuals who have a disability by providing sound investment choices for saving for the future.
Anyone who donates on the Givetoenable.com platform and files a Nebraska state income tax return will be able to take advantage of up to a $10,000 Nebraska income tax deduction ($5000 for married taxpayers filing separately). Contributions made to an Enable account from the website will count towards the annual $18,000 contribution limit.
Briese encourages Nebraskans to make use of www.Givetoenable.com, a new, free-to-use crowdfunding website designed to help Enable Savings Plan owners achieve a better life experience.
“This is the season for giving, and now is the perfect time to take a moment to add to or open an Enable account for yourself or a loved one,” Briese said.
Givetoenable.com will allow participants to raise needed funds through donations from family, friends, and others, similar to sites such as GoFundMe or Kickstarter. Funds donated through Givetoenable.com will go directly into the individual account owner’s Enable account and will not impact their benefits unlike a traditional crowdfunding webpage.

A New Place to Eat!
The Busy Bistro, (BB's), in Plattsmouth just opened at the start of this month. Their building is located at 534 Main, on the northeast side of the intersection of 6th and Main Street in Plattsmouth.
They're open Thursday - Tuesday, from 6:30 am to 2 pm and closed Wednesdays. BB's serves breakfast and lunch during this entire timeframe. Some folks work the night shift and want a good meal when they get off early in the morning and BB's is perfect for that! They're also open an additional four hours on Friday evenings from 4-8 for dinner.
Emanuel, (aka Manny), used to manage and cook at The Flame restaurant in Murray, before covid hit. If you ever visited The Flame, you know his talent for preparing tasty meals is fantastic! Maria, his daughter, serves up her smile to your table and is super-friendly. She sure seems like she enjoys helping out her dad.
My guess is that they can probably seat 24 -30 customers at one time. Small on space, but BIG on flavor!

Dear Readers,
We want to build an online history about Murray.
Please submit any information you might know about our town to start creating this project.
If you own a business, let us know when you started and any informaton about the building and/or business located there before yours. Do you know the little gray building, CJ's Hair Salon, on Main Street used to be an ice cream shop? Do you also know that the Murray Christian Church used to be located just east of the Murray Repair Shop? In the early 1900's Murray's Main Street was devastated by a fire. Have you heard any information about that time that's been passed down from your ancestors?
You can also send information about your house - when it was built and any background about it. Was it one of the first homes in town? Is it haunted? What do you know about it? There's a little house in town that used to be the old railroad depot! Do you know where it is now, or that the old Murray Elementary School's mascot name was the Mustangs?
Any information would be helpful. Please send photos, too, if available! Photos should contain people's names and location and any other helpful information. This should become a fun, educational and informative piece of history that will continue to grow, and one that we're all building together! Thanks for your help!

The following is an employment opportunity available to older adults in Cass County.
Experience Works is a national, non-profit organization funded by the US Dept of Labor to administer the Senior Community Service Employment Program, which assists people 55 and older in getting updated training to assist in returning to the workforce. This is a federally funded program and offers a no-cost employment service to older adults who qualify.
Once accepted into the program, individuals are placed in a training site in or near their community, where they gain on the job experience while working 20-21 hours/week at $8/hour.
We also help with skill assessments, computer training, resumes, cover letters, job search, etc.
The goal is that through the training and job search assistance we gain help older adults gain good jobs in or around their communities.
